The Age of Creation (Approx. 40.000 years before the Fall)
It is the age of creation. A world, called Errandar in ancient tongues, emerges whole from the void and chaos and heralds the beginning of all ages. The old gods walk the empty forests and survey the virgin plains. It is a landscape untouched by sentient beings. Millenniums pass while the Earthen Mother plants sacred seeds into the moist ground. Treants appear in the forests and raise the Naifir, a massive forest in the heartland of a continent named Ascendallion. Giants and dragons arise from the mist to control the World Mountains and witness the passing of time. While the tides of time rise and fall, the Kraken spawns its children into the World Sea; and all the while, chaos struggles to re-enter the world.
Time passes and Elves appear, scattered across the land. The many tribes lack focus with kings and royal families aplenty but with no true purpose. To prevent stagnation, it is decided to unite the tribes as one. The first elven gathering occurs and the wandering populace comes together to form the extended family which will be known from there on as Faylon or the Wild Elves. For a time they rule a peaceful, albeit quiet, world. The Mountain King carves the first Dwarves out of rock from deep within Torgmar-Banor. Then darkness enters the land through a rift somewhere in the depths, spilling forth beings from another dimension. Creatures which defy description, but with souls of stone, now walk the lands of Ascendallion and assault the elves. Still infants, the sprouting civilizations of Nauticans and Dwarves are not able to support the Faylon. The elven kings band together in a desperate attempt and draw raw magic from the land, its animals, and the trees. This centuries long battle, referred to in elven legends as Aias-Keth, drives the evil from the world but causes serious damage to the elven culture.
The majority of elves remain in the forests and pledge their lives to the restoration of beauty and tranquility which was theirs before the darkness descended. Another distinct tribe, the Norlon—or Shadow Elves—emerges from the horrors of war and many feel they have been touched by their intimate contact with the darkness. These Shadow Elves no longer bear any resemblance to their brothers and are ostracized by most. Some stay but many reject the sanctity of the forest and make the land below the ground their home, creating intricate labyrinths and exploiting the caverns they find below neighboring mountains.
